The Institute for Research in Construction at the National Research Council of Canada is an excellent resource for information on building enclosures. Look up the Publications link for numerous free publications online, in particular a series of Canadian Building Digests ranging across a spectrum of technical topics.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory Building Technology Center hosts a site dealing with building envelope performance issues.

Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
, Energy and Environmental Technologies Division provides insight into a number of the technologies related to building enclosures.

Environment Canada's Weather Office houses climate data which is available online free of charge for most Canadian locations.

The Kinetic Design Group at MIT has as its goal the creation of architectural solutions that can demonstrate responsive and intelligently active behaviors with respect to changing individual, social and environmental needs.

Architecture of Life is an eye-opening look at biological concepts that may be adapted to building enclosures.

Godden Structural Engineering Slide Library is a free online resource that offers high quality images of numerous structures and building enclosure typologies.

BuildingEnvelopes.org is an online resource providing state-of-the-art information on innovation in advanced facades, heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting systems to support preliminary design of energy-efficient buildings. A worldwide consortium of professionals, universities, and research organizations support this effort and provide information for the site. Enter 'guest' as the login name and password.

Hybrid Ventilation IEA - ECBCS Annex 35 maintains an interesting site with numerous case studies of buildings employing hybrid ventilation strategies. Hybrid ventilation intends to maintain a satisfactory indoor environment by alternating between and combining natural and mechanical systems to avoid the cost, the energy penalty and the consequentially environmental effects of full year-round air conditioning.

Center for Buildings and Thermal Systems is part of the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and contains numerous links to building enclosure technologies.

Building Science Corporation in Boston Massachusetts is the home of Dr. Joe Lstiburek, international advocate of limit states design for the moisture engineering of building enclosures.
